BIBIHEYBAT PROJECT
BIBIHEYBAT PROJECT
Reconstruction and beautification works in the settlement of Bibiheybat began in 2019. The facades of numerous residential houses have been renewed, additional balconies, local street lighting, and arcades have been installed. Roof coverings, doors, and windows of the houses have been replaced. Public buildings have been constructed, and small squares and fountains have been created for residents recreation. In some streets and alleys, vehicle access has been restricted, ensuring free movement for pedestrians.
One of the alleys has been covered over a short distance with a black-painted wooden grape arbor. Along the alley, the walls of houses on both sides have been painted and decorated in such a similar manner that they are nearly indistinguishable from one another. Mailboxes have been installed on the doors, and along the walls, large ancient pot-shaped containers filled with plants have been arranged.
Old water pipelines have been replaced, and new electricity, gas, and communication lines have been installed in the settlement. Plastering and painting works have been carried out, tidying up the walls along the streets, and paving stones have been laid.
On one of the streets, stone slabs carved with symbols reflecting the ancient history of the settlement have been installed. One of these slabs depicts an ancient oil well with oil gushing in fountain form and the workers who operated it. Another stone slab shows a camel caravan used in ancient times to transport oil. Additionally, one can find slabs commemorating the world’s first oil tanker, “Zoroastr,” and Bibiheybat’s first electric power station, commissioned in 1901, both engraved in stone.
During the reconstruction works, a large park was established in the center of the settlement. At the center of the square stands a rotunda pavilion with a small fountain. The rotunda is a small circular or semicircular domed structure, usually supported by columns. Benches have also been installed in the park for residents to rest and relax.
